WSQ SUPERVISE METAL SCAFFOLD ERECTION

Introduction

This course focuses on supervising metal scaffold erection, providing learners with the essential skills to safely set up, inspect, and dismantle various scaffold types. It covers independent tied scaffolds, frame scaffolds, birdcage scaffolds, tubular tower scaffolds, aluminum tower scaffolds, all-round system scaffolds, and cuplock system scaffolds, all in compliance with SS659 and WSH (Scaffold) Regulations. Participants will learn to identify hazards, ensure safety during scaffold operations, and maintain accurate records using scaffold registers and inspection checklists. By the end of the course, students will be proficient in managing scaffold erection and dismantling safely and effectively.

Course Information

An employee who supervises workers involving erection, installation, re-positioning, alteration or dismantling of a scaffold. (Paragraph R6(2) of the WSH (Scaffolds) Regulations 2011)

The Generic Manufacturing Skills (GMS) WSQ framework aims
to raise the professionalism of the workforce. The Competency
Unit aims to provide learners with the knowledge and skills in
supervising scaffold erection, inspection and dismantling work
activities in construction and other related industries.
Learning Objectives are:

  • Set up, erection, inspection and dismantling of independent
    tied scaffold
  • Perform erection, inspection, dismantling of frame
    scaffold, birdcage scaffold, tubular tower scaffold, aluminum
    tower scaffold, all-round system scaffold and cuplock system
    scaffold in accordance with the safe work procedures,
    general principles and requirements of *SS659, WSH
    (Scaffold) Regulations and other related WSH Regulations
  • Identify hazards and ensure safety of scaffold erection
    and dismantling
  • Record work in scaffold register and inspection checklists

75 Hours
(69 hours training + 6 hours assessment)
