This course focuses on process pipe fitting, providing learners with the skills to interpret piping drawings, fabricate, and assemble piping systems in the process industry. Participants will gain hands-on experience in wire shaping, bending, pipe cutting, and fabrication, following industry standards and safety regulations. The curriculum emphasizes the use of mechanized tools and equipment for shaping, bending, and finishing tasks. By the end of the course, learners will be able to perform pipe fitting and fabrication tasks in compliance with WSH regulations, ensuring safety and quality in the installation of process piping systems.
The job roles(s) / occupations that this unit would be relevant to may include operators, technicians and supervisors across all
process sectors in the R1 framework, who requires to carry out piping works.
Course Aim
A process pipe fitter is one who interprets isometric drawings,
fabricates and assembles piping works involving processes such
as shaping and bending of wire, marking out, cutting and
finishing with the aid of mechanized hand tools and equipment
in accordance with WSH safe practices and regulations
pertaining to working in the Process Industry.
The work he/she performs includes the following:
CE 1.Interpret piping drawings for pipe installation
CE 2.Perform wire shaping and bending
CE 3.Perform pipe cutting and bending
CE 4.Perform pipe fabrication and pipe support fabrication
Learner’s Objectives
On completion of the course, participants should be able to
perform wire shaping and bending, pipe cutting and bending,
pipe support fabrication and piping work in accordance with
piping drawings and specifications while complying with WSH
rules and regulations pertaining to working in the Process
Industry.
