Build your e-commerce expertise with Lazada!
Revenue from e-commerce is projected to reach US$2,401 million by 2020, driven by the segments of food and personal care. The importance of e-commerce has only been magnified by the COVID-19 pandemic, propelling multiple businesses to jump on the e-commerce bandwagon.
The benefits are aplenty: cost savings on rent, the ability to reach a wider, global market, more avenues to collect customer data and targeted ads to ensure businesses reach their ideal markets.
The digital marketplace has its appeal, but do companies know how to leverage on e-commerce and reap the full benefits?
The Lazada-SUSS Certificate in e-Commerce was designed with this in mind. The programme helps online store owners and small businesses keen on offering products and services on a digital medium, leverage on e-commerce growth in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
Between 18 to 19 August this year, XXX participants – ranging from those self-employed to SMEs and MNCs attended the Lazada-SUSS workshop level 1 courses. This level 1 series was conducted online and aimed at providing an overview of online marketing for small businesses.
The course was split into two sections: the first day was focused on the syllabus for the SUSS CET142 course, while the second day involved a sharing from the Lazada Head of Seller Engagement.
Build foundational knowledge
Participants were taught the basics, like how to set up pages across different social media platforms to drive brand awareness. This gave participants with varying levels of knowledge, practical insights and tips about how to boost online marketing, and helped them understand the respective strengths and weaknesses of popular social media platforms.
They were also introduced to WIX as a platform to build a website and advertise their business.
Learn from real life case studies and lessons
Participants were also trained to operationalise marketing concepts at the small business level. Through a workshop-styled learning approach, participants brainstormed and considered how to execute marketing initiatives for their own online businesses.
Real life case studies were used, and SUSS students were invited in to present their own marketing projects. This helped learners understand how the concepts were applied in the real world. They benefited from hearing from different perspectives and gained inspiration for what they themselves could bring back to their respective companies.
Hear from credible experts
The presentations by the SUSS students were complemented with the Lazada Head of Seller Engagement’s sharing. Through this sharing, participants were given examples of realistic, day-to-day examples of how companies had chosen to market their products. With these examples, they learned how to increase traffic and gain “eyeballs” and were also given expert tips to engage and convert potential buyers into customers.
Build on basic knowledge with level 2 courses
While level 1 courses were designed to provide an introduction to e-commerce and online marketing, level 2 courses delve deeper into e-commerce, so participants can stay on track with their online business plans. This is done by focusing on two main areas: data mining to support decision-making, and digital branding and engagement.
Under data mining, participants can expect to be brought through the following:
- Fundamentals of data mining
- Association and clustering
- Hands-on experience with IBM SPSS
- Predictive modelling 1
- Predictive modelling 2
Digital branding and engagement will be taught using the context of the Lazada Business Advisor framework, a one-stop portal that allows Lazada sellers to assess their store performance. Participants will learn to use this information to develop a digital brand strategy framework, and to identify both digital and non-digital touch points to build brand interest and create an impact.
